got a script?

August 16, 2009

what are you working on?

it’s curious how many times i am asked that question these days and each time i am stumped, for a brief moment, in how to respond. there are so many, i want to say…and yet, there are not enough, i also want to scream.

to start with the latter, i thought i’d share with you here what i’m looking for in terms of possible new projects:

last week i attended an event at the san francisco school of digital filmmaking that created space for folks to pitch to an audience of over 100 people working in the film industry here in the Bay – for whatever they needed at this point: money, a producer, a location, talent, etc.

as i am looking for new projects — more specifically, scripts to direct, here is my pitch:

got a script?

do you have a (short) story sitting patiently on the shelf, waiting, wanting for it to leap onto the screen?

have you perhaps written a script and need a steady hand to help unleash its hidden greatness?

or perhaps, it is a dream that whispers in your ear as you close your eyes – one that tugs are your attention and reminds you of its promise in that moment when a bird flies by, or in the way that gentleman held open the door, unexpectedly, for you….or even in the drip drip drip of the faucet that refuses to run dry?

yes?

what you need is an experienced and imaginative director who can work with you to breathe color and life into your words, transforming them into moving images that will both hold your spectator’s attention and expand your voice further out into the world.

if you dream in color and inhale deeply the poppies in the fields before you, then i am your director.

if light and shadows catch your eye in the stillness of the night, then i am your director.

if you find beauty in nuance, the sublime in metaphor, and fantasy in the wisp of smoke around a campfire, then i am your director.

tell me your story and allow me to honor to direct your work and together we will bring your words to life.
